News item posted 21 March 2006

Steve de Shazer, one of the founders of Solution-focused Brief Therapy and a quiet inspiration to therapists the world over, died on 11 September 2005.

We join with colleagues internationally in a shared sadness and profound loss. In pursuing excellence in the practice and training of the Solution-focused approach, our role models par excellence have been Steve de Shazer and his partner Insoo Kim Berg, to whom we extend our condolences and our warm wishes.

The Brief Therapy Institute of Sydney held a special seminar on 21 October 2005 and a group of therapists gathered to celebrate the life and contribution of an extraordinary therapist, an extraordinary mind and an extraordinary man.
