Expanding and strengthening skills in Solution-focused Brief Therapy: An advanced course
Presented by Michael Durrant
This course is designed for people who have completed an introductory workshop - or have had other training in Solution-focused Brief Therapy - and wish to extend and strengthen their skills.
The workshop is participatory and involves intensive skills practice, in which participants will experience USING the different kinds of questions in different ways. There will be opportunity to reflect on therapy/counselling that has gone well (and to consider what we can learn from that!) as well as to learn from sessions that have seemed less successful.
Detailed analysis of videotapes and transcripts of therapy sessions will focus on how a Solution-focused conversation is crafted - how questions build on responses, leading to question/response spirals of strengths and solutions. Participants are invited to bring their own case material for discussion and reflection. The emphasis will be on how the various Solution-focused skills and questions may be applied in participants' work situations.
